Happy New Year from all at Near Howe

2012 Events

2012 is now upon us, and we hope that the Olympic Games and the Queens Diamond Jubilee prove to be truly memorable occasions. Natasha and Steve have been lucky enough to get tickets for a couple of Olympic events in August, which they are really excited about.

The Lakes have got their own exciting schedule of events to look forward to, and with that in mind I am pleased to be able to share the following links with you.

The first five inks provide overviews of events throughout the year, and are followed by a few of the many events which are scheduled to take place locally.

Welcoming you back to Near Howe

We look forward to being able to welcome many of our regular guests back to stay with us again at Near Howe this year. Please check out the latest availability and prices.

Last Easter we took on an Agency for the first time since taking over back in 2006 to help introduce us to new guests, which was quite successful last year, and we hope will work as well for us in 2012.

Repeat Booking Discounts

The agency agreement required that we both market our cottages at the same prices, which led to a more complicated structure than our previous Low-Mid and High rates, and has led to significant increases during some peak periods. With this in mind please give us a call on 01768 779 678 about discounts during peak periods where the increases apply.

Howe End Leak

Last Winter was one of the coldest we have had since moving to Near Howe, and resulted in a major leak in Howe End, leading to the lounge ceiling coming down on Christmas Day! What a present that was! The restoration work is now fully complete, with redecoration and new carpets throughout!

Another Sporting Success at Near Howe

This time its not Tasha, but Jill!!! Having been persuaded by Steve and Helen to enter the Mill Inn Christmas domino competition, she swept all before her to come out on top, helping to reduce the Christmas booze bill by winning 1st prize. Steve managed a creditable 8th, though felt very humbled by Jill's achievements!!

The accommodation comprises of a large well appointed kitchen/dining/living room, two double/twin bedrooms one with a shower and the other with a large wet room, together with a comfortable sun lounge offering the magnificent views that guests have come to love here at Near Howe.

Sharp Edge is a first floor luxury apartment sleeping two. It has a very comfortable kitchen/dining/living room, a double/twin bedroom and a bathroom with separate shower and bath with its majestic view of Blencathra and the North Lakeland fells.

The first guests to stay in Sharp Edge were regulars Phil and Sheila Entwistle followed by Ian and Margaret Wilson. Both couples enjoyed their visit and have booked to stay in Sharp Edge again for their next stay with us.

Bannerdale also proved a great success, with the first guests Syd, Dave, Sue and Ben Wilson leaving the following note in the Visitors Book: -
